Apply for Scholarships and Grants – for Moravian Girls & Women
The Unity Women’s Desk provides scholarships to Moravian girls and women throughout the Worldwide Moravian Church. The maximum scholarship for students attending university or other post-secondary programs is $1000 PER YEAR. The maximum scholarship for girls in secondary school is $500 per year.
In countries where education is public (paid for by the government), girls can apply for scholarships to cover expenses such as school uniforms, transportation, and books, if they can demonstrate the need.
As long as you complete the required UPDATE report and are making good progress toward graduation, you can receive this amount each year of your program (usually between 1 and 4 years, depending on whether it is a certificate, diploma, or degree program. Note: If you graduate from one program and want to start another program, you must apply again as a new student.
Please note: we only accept applications for scholarships and grants through our online application links. All current links have the words “cognito forms” in the address. We do not accept applications through email or whatsapp. Application forms can be completed in English, Spanish, or Kiswahili, and can be submitted with a smart phone or computer. Purpose of Unity Women’s Desk Scholarships:
- to help Moravian girls and women who do not have the money they need to study
- to empower Moravian girls and women to develop leadership skills and to be servant-leaders in their schools, churches, and communities.
- to build a global network of Moravian girls and women who can support each other and build their communities.
QUALITIES OF Unity Women’s Desk Scholars:
- Commitment to academic excellence in the field of their choice. Applicants should provide grades and recommendations from teachers that confirm their commitment to doing their best work.
- Commitment to serving others – Applications should DEMONSTRATE a commitment to serving others – at school, at church, and in the community. This can be demonstrated through personal statements of participation in service and leadership activities. UWD Scholars feel a responsibility to use their education to help others.
- Courage. UWD Scholars have the courage to ask for help as well as to help others. They recognize the importance of speaking up and speaking out to advocate for justice and to give hope to those in need.

Your application MUST be complete to be considered. The application gives instructions to submit
- pastor’s recommendation
- academic documents
- essays and explanation of your commitment to service and personal achievement – for the good of your church, community and world.

Forms for CONTINUING Scholarship Recipients. Do NOT COMPLETE the forms below only after you receive a message from Unity Women’s Desk that says “CONGRATULATIONS! You have been selected for a scholarship.”
SCHOLARSHIP ACCEPTANCE/COVENANT FORM – Required for all students who plan to continue their program the next year. If you do not complete this form, we cannot send your money.
IF you are notified that you have been selected to receive a Unity Women’s Desk scholarship, you will be asked to complete the Scholarship Acceptance Form. This is how we know where to send your money.
3. At the end of each academic year, scholarship recipients must complete this form:

If you do not complete this form, we cannot send you money for a scholarship the following year.
GRANTS APPLICATIONS:
The Unity Women’s Desk provides grants for Moravian women (individuals or groups) for the following purposes:
1-Entrepreneurship Grant to start a business or build a business they have already started. We will be giving very limited grant funds in 2026. If you would like to apply for a grant of $1000 – $3000. Please complete the application below and we will contact you with additional questions.
2- Violence against Women/Gender-Based Violence Advocacy Grants. If you are planning a workshop or training program you may apply for a grant to help pay for workshop costs. Grants are between $500 and $3000, depending on the number of participants, number of instructional hours, and need for assistance for participants to attend. Grant applications must be submitted BEFORE the conference is held. They should usually be submitted at least 6 months before the conference will be held.
