About 40% of contributions that are not designated for a specific use are reserved for scholarships and student grants.
Helping girls achieve an education is one of our primary goals. The UWD provides scholarships for tuition, as well as student grants to pay for non-tuition items (such as school supplies, uniforms, desks, etc.).
Below are just some of the ways that your contributions are used:
- $5 will provide school supplies for a girl for one semester in Tanzania.
- $7 will provide a uniform for a girl in Tanzania to participate in the “free” primary education that is offered there. Without a uniform, a child cannot attend school.
- $20 will purchase a desk for a girl in boarding school in Tanzania. In addition to tuition at private schools, many girls must also provide their own desks.
- $80 will provide tuition for a girl to attend primary school for one year in Uganda.
- $95 will provide tuition for a girl to attend the Moravian School for one year in Sierra Leone.
